Vote NEOMED!

Northeast Ohio Medical University’s Script Your Future team have been working to educate members of the community to improve medication adherence, an issue that causes tens of thousands of deaths and more than $430 million in hospital re-admissions each year in the U.S. On Wednesday, Feb. 22, the NEOMED team for this national campaign will have a platform to receive funds to purchase 7,500 pillboxes, which would help improve medication adherence for thousands of area residents.

Third-year pharmacy student Kaitlin Patterson, chair of Script Your Future, and Jacklyn Boyle, Pharm. D. (‘12), professor of pharmacy practice and faculty advisor of Script Your Future, have been selected to pitch their idea at Accelerate 2017: Citizens Make Change, a civic pitch competition that offers a platform for those with an action plan to improve the life of residents in Cleveland and beyond.

Patterson and Dr. Boyle will be one of five presenters in the Quality of Life category to request funding to purchase and distribute the pillboxes. Their pitch, titled “Pillbox Project: Making the Most of Medication,” will be presented to four judges who, along with votes from audience members, will determine if they receive the requested funding.

The more support Patterson and Dr. Boyle receive at the event, the better their chances of winning. Please consider attending the event to show your support, and to learn about all of the presenters’ ideas to help improve our communities. Accelerate 2017 will begin at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Global Center for Health Innovation, 1 St. Clair Ave. NE, Cleveland. Tickets may be purchased at https://www.cleveleads.org/Accelerate2017.
